SUNWEB WON FOR ONE SECOND THE TEAM TRIAL STAGE “VERBANIA-VERBANIA”

In the charming Piazza Garibaldi in Verbania is just finished the 1st stage of 29° Giro Rosa U.C.I. WWT.  The team trial stage of 15,5 km drawn close Maggiore Lake has been won by Ellen Van Dijk, ex trial word champion and her team Sunweb, made by Liane Lippert, Juliette Labous, Julia Soek, Leah Kirchmann, Lucinda Brand e Ruth Winder. The Dutch team has preceded for only one second the Australian Women team of Mitchelton – Scott, captained by Annemiek Van Vleuten, World trial champion and most favourite for the final victory at Giro Rosa. The podium has been completed by team Boels Dolmans Cycling of World champion Chantal Blaak, with a gap of 12’’.

With these results, Ellen Van Dijk (Team Sunweb) is the first pink jersey of the Giro Rosa organized by Beppe Rivolta. The Australian Sarah Roy (Mitchelton – Scott) wears cyclamine jersey, Liane Lippert of Sunweb the white jersey, Canadian Karol-Ann Canuel the green jersey and the Italian three times champion Elena Cecchini (Canyon – Sram Racing), with her best fan Elia Viviani on the road, wears the blue jersey. Tomorrow the second stage: Ovada-Ovada of 120,39 km.
