VAN VLEUTEN “CYCLONE” AT GIRO ROSA

Annemiek Van Vleuten arrived as a cyclone on today’s stage of 29 “Giro Rosa U.C.I. WWT”. The time trial World Champion favourite number one for the victory at the race of Giuseppe Rivolta, triumphed at the individual uphill trial of 15 km from Lanzada to Dam of Campo Moro, in the amazing panorama of Valtellina. The Dutch champion of Mitchelton Scott won with an incredible gap on the second one, the South African Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio (Cervelo-Bigla Pro Cycling) at 2’29’’and the third one Lucinda Brand of Team Sunweb, who lost 2’54’’. Very interesting final times for Italians Elisa Longo Borghini (Wiggle High5) and Alice Maria Arzuffi (Bizkaia Durango Euskadi), 6^th and 7^th at the finish.

With this victory Van Vleuten is now leading the general classification of “Giro Rosa”, just before her teammate Amanda Spratt. Third is Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio. Dutch Kirsten Wild (Wiggle-High5) still wears Cyclamine jersey, Amanda Spratt the Green one, the Italian coming from Veneto Sofia Bertizzolo (Astana Women’s Team)  is the strongest of youngsters (wearing the White jersey), Elisa Longo Borghini (Wiggle High5) from Ornavasso, today finished sixth, is again the best Italian rider and she wears the Blue jersey. IL “CICLONE” VAN VLEUTEN SI E’ ABBATTUTO SUL GIRO ROSA

Il “ciclone” Annemiek Van Vleuten si è abbattuto sull’edizione numero 29 del “Giro Rosa U.C.I. WWT”. La campionessa del mondo in carica contro il tempo, favorita numero uno alla vigilia della corsa di patron Giuseppe Rivolta, ha letteralmente dominato la cronoscalata individuale di 15 chilometri da Lanzada fino alle Dighe di Campo Moro, nella magnifica scenografia offerta dalla splendida Valtellina. La fuoriclasse olandese del Mitchelton Scott ha relegato a distacchi abissali tutte le rivali, partendo dalla sudafricana Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio (Cervelo-Bigla Pro Cycling), staccata di 2’29’’. Il podio è stato completato dalla rappresentante del Team Sunweb Lucinda Brand, che ha pagato un ritardo di 2’54’’. Ottime prestazioni delle azzurre Elisa Longo Borghini (Wiggle High5) ed Alice Maria Arzuffi (Bizkaia Durango Euskadi), che hanno chiuso la loro prova rispettivamente al sesto ed al nono posto.

Grazie a questi risultati la Van Vleuten è balzata prepotentemente in testa alla classifica generale del “Giro Rosa”, precedendo la compagna di squadra Amanda Spratt ed Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio. L’olandese Kirsten Wild (Wiggle-High5) ha conservato la maglia ciclamino, Amanda Spratt veste la maglia verde, la veneta dell’Astana Women’s Team Sofia Bertizzolo è la più forte tra le giovani, mentre la piemontese di Ornavasso Elisa Longo Borghini (Wiggle High5), oggi sesta al traguardo, è ancora la migliore tra le italiane. AMAZING SHOW AT THE FIRST UPHILL FINISH OF GIRO ROSA

A lot of emotions today at the first uphill finish of “29° Giro Rosa U.C.I. WWT” at Gerola Alta: Amanda Spratt (Mitchelton Scott) wins after 114,10km. The stage has started from Sovico, homecity of the boss Giuseppe Rivolta at the presence of Davide Cassani (coach of Italian Men National Cycling team), Claudio Chiappucci (ex pro) and Justine Mattera, a showgirl fan of cyclism. The favourite teams controlled few attacks and the one tried by Jessica Parra (Servetto – Stradalli Alurecycling) has been caught near the intermediate sprint in Delebio, won by Riejanne Markus (Waowdeals Pro Cycling) before Dani King. Elisa Longo Borghini, Wiggle High5 captain, has had mechanical troubles in the flat part of the stage: she had to change three times her bike before restarting. Mitchelton Scott and Canyon-Sram have worked hard for Annemiek Van Vleuten and Kasia Niewiadoma, their captains.

At the start of the GPM of the day, Longo Borghini closed the gap and leaded the race with the hill climbers of Cervelo Bigla Ashleigh Moolman Pasio and Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig. The Pink jersey Ruth Winder dropped off since the first km of the climb and at 4 km to the finish, Kasia Niewiadoma, Moolman, Van Vleuten and Spratt tried to escape. The Australian of Mitchelton  Scott leaded the front group with some meters on  Merino (Movistar), Uttrup Ludwig (Cervelo), Niewiadoma (Canyon – SRAM) and Van Vleuten (Mitchelton – Scott). Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig tried to chase her, but Spratt has been really concerned today and won just before her mate team Van Vleuten and South African Moolman – Pasio (Cervelo Bigla). LE PRIME MONTAGNE DEL GIRO ROSA REGALANO UN GRANDE SHOW

Arrivano le Alpi ed ecco i primi colpi di scena al 29° Giro Rosa: La Sovico – Gerola Alta, tappa con arrivo in salita di 114.1 km, ha visto il trionfo di Amanda Spratt (Mitchelton-Scott), al termine di una grande frazione ricca di emozioni. Si parte da Sovico, città del Patron del Giro Giuseppe Rivolta dove alla partenza erano presenti tra gli altri Davide Cassani (CT della Nazionale Italiana di ciclismo maschile), Claudio Chiappucci (ex pro) e la showgirl Justine Mattera, grande appassionata di ciclismo. Le squadre delle favorite non hanno permesso gli svariati tentativi di attacco, andati tutti a vuoto, incluso quello della colombiana Jessica Parra (Servetto – Stradalli Alurecycling), ripresa nei pressi del traguardo volante di Delebio, vinto da Riejanne Markus (Waowdeals Pro Cycling) sulla britannica Dani King. Elisa Longo Borghini, capitana delle Wiggle High5, ha difficoltà nel tratto di pianura che la costringono a sostituire più volte la bicicletta, mentre Mitchelton-Scott e Canyon-Sram lavorano per Annemiek Van Vleuten e Kasia Niewiadoma, le proprie capitane.

Ad inizio salita il gruppo resta compatto ed Elisa torna in gruppo e poi prende il largo insieme ad altre undici atlete, incluse le due scalatrici della Cervelo – Bigla Ashleigh Moolman – Pasio e Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig. Perde terreno quasi subito la Maglia Rosa di Ruth Winder, che comunque riesce a gestire le forze salendo con il proprio passo. ai – 4 attacca Kasia Niewiadoma, seguita da Moolman, Van Vleuten e Spratt, che contrattacca poco dopo. L’australiana della Mitchelton – Scott guadagna subito alcuni metri sulle avversarie e al suo inseguimento sono in quattro: Merino (Movistar), Uttrup Ludwig (Cervelo), Niewiadoma (Canyon – SRAM) e Van Vleuten (Mitchelton – Scott). Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig rimane poi da sola all’inseguimento della australiana, che resiste e va a vincere davanti alla compagna di squadra Van Vleuten e alla sudafricana Moolman – Pasio. Domani è in programma l’attesissima cronoscalata individuale da Lanzada alla Diga di Campo Moro: 15 km con oltre mille metri di dislivello che cambieranno ulteriormente la classifica generale. STAGE WIN AND MAGLIA ROSA FOR RUTH WINDER IN OMEGNA

The American Ruth Winder has been the protagonist of  the 5th stage of “Giro Rosa U.C.I. WWT”, Omegna-Omegna, 122.6 km long. The strong Team Sunweb athlete has defeated at the sprint the other two riders that escaped with her at about 20km to the finish. Second has arrived the compatriot Tayler Wiles (Trek Drops) and third Alice Maria Arzuffi (Bizkaia Durango Euskadi Murias) from Seregno, Italy.

The first part of the stage has been characterized by the breakway of twelve athletes with also the Blue jersey Maria Giulia Confalonieri (Valcar PBM). After an advantage of about one minute, the leading group has been caught by the peloton just before the start of the only G.P.M. of the day located in Someraro (Loc.Nevo) of 2^nd category, won by the Polish  Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon Sram Racing). Second has arrived the Italian Elisa Longo Borghini (Wiggle High5), who was riding in her hometown roads with many fans for her. During the descent to Armeno, three athletes decided to go in a beautiful escape that took Ruth Winder, Tayler Wiles and Alice Maria Arzuffi to a three final sprint, won by the American Winder (who celebrated the birthday just yesterday).

With this victory Winder wears the Pink jersey, the Dutch sprinter Kirsten Wild (Wiggle High5) still mantain the Cyclamine jersey, the former european junior champion Sofia Bertizzolo (Astana Women’s Team) is the new White jersey as the best young rider and the Italian from Ornavasso Elisa Longo Borghini wears Green and Blue jersey also for today. AD OMEGNA TAPPA E MAGLIA A RUTH WINDER

E’ l’americana Ruth Winder la grande protagonista della quinta frazione del “Giro Rosa U.C.I. WWT”, la Omegna-Omegna di 122,6 chilometri. La forte portacolori del Team Sunweb ha battuto allo sprint le due compagne di fuga con le quali si era avvantaggiata sul resto del gruppo a circa venti chilometri dalla conclusione, relegando al secondo posto la connazionale Tayler Wiles (Trek Drops) ed al terzo la brianzola di Seregno Alice Maria Arzuffi (Bizkaia Durango Euskadi Murias).

La prima fase di corsa è stata caratterizzata dalla fuga di un drappello composto da una dozzina di atlete tra cui la maglia blu Maria Giulia Confalonieri (Valcar PBM). Le fuggitive, dopo aver guadagnato un vantaggio massimo di un minuto, sono state raggiunte dal gruppo poco prima della salita verso il G.P.M. di seconda categoria collocato a Someraro (Loc. Levo), poi vinto dalla polacca Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon Sram Racing) sulla padrona di casa, sostenuta da un calorosissimo pubblico, Elisa Longo Borghini (Wiggle High5). Lungo la discesa verso Armeno è nata l’azione decisiva di giornata, che ha portato Ruth Winder, Tayler Wiles ed Alice Maria Arzuffi a giocarsi il successo finale, andato alla statunitense Winder, che ha compiuto 25 anni proprio ieri.

Grazie a questo successo la Winder ha conquistato anche la maglia rosa, la sprinter olandese Kirsten Wild (Wiggle High5) ha mantenuto la maglia ciclamino, l’ex campionessa europea junior Sofia Bertizzolo (Astana Women’s Team), è balzata in vetta alla classifica della maglia bianca riservata alla miglior giovane, mentre la piemontese di Ornavasso Elisa Longo Borghini ha conservato senza troppi affanni la maglia verde e la maglia blu. JOLIEN D’HOORE WINS AGAIN IN PIACENZA

Jolien D’Hoore makes the double the 4th stage of 29° “Giro Rosa U.C.I. WWT” in Piacenza after the victory of yesterday in Corbetta. The Mitchelton Scott’s sprinter, arrived first in today stage Piacenza-Piacenza of 109 km, with a fantastic action in the last meters, ahead the one time World road Champion Marta Bastianelli (Alè Cipollini) and the Finnish Champion Lotta Lepistö (Cervelo-Bigla Pro Cycling).

In the first part of the stage Elena Franchi (Conceria Zabri Fanini), who was running nearly home, had a breakaway after 23km from the start. She has been reeled by the peloton just before the start of the only hill climb of the day “Rivergaro (Loc. Romola)”, after a maximum gap of about 50’’. Elisa Longo Borghini (Wiggle High5), who dominated the Road Race of the Mediterranean Games, won the climb to take the Green jersey the best climber. In the last chilometers of the stage, Olena Pavlukhina (BTC City Ljubljana) tried to escape but the peloton closed the gap quite easy. Giorgia Bronzini (Cylance Pro Cycling) who had a lot of fans on the roads running in her hometown, has been involved into a crash at 8km to the end, losing all the possibilities to win. The final sprint, as wrote before, has been finally won by D’Hoore.

Nothing has changed in the general, point and time classifications, with Leah Kirchmann (Team Sunweb) and Kirsten Wild (Wiggle High5) leaders, the Italian Elisa Longo Borghini (Wiggle High5) is now wearing the Green and Blue jerseys, and the French Juliette Labus (Team Sunweb) is the best in the youngers classification. A PIACENZA BIS DELLA BELGA JOLIEN D’HOORE

Fantastico bis della sprinter belga Jolien D’Hoore nell’edizione numero 29 del “Giro Rosa U.C.I. WWT”. La possente velocista del team Mitchelton Scott, già vincitrice ieri, si è imposta anche nella quarta frazione della “corsa rosa”, la Piacenza-Piacenza di 109 chilometri, battendo l’ex campionessa del mondo su strada Marta Bastianelli (Alè Cipollini) e la campionessa nazionale di Finlandia Lotta Lepisto (Cervelo-Bigla Pro Cycling).

La gara è stata caratterizzata dalla bella azione della padrona di casa Elena Franchi (Conceria Zabri Fanini), evasa dal gruppo dopo 23 chilometri dalla partenza. La piacentina di Fiorenzuola d’Arda, dopo aver guadagnato un vantaggio massimo di circa 50 secondi, è stata raggiunta dal gruppo all’inizio della salita verso il G.P.M. di terza categoria di Rivergaro (Loc. Romola), vinto dalla recente dominatrice dei “Giochi del Mediterraneo” Elisa Longo Borghini (Wiggle High5), che ha così conquistato la maglia verde di miglior scalatrice. Nei chilometri finali di corsa è stata Olena Pavlukhina (BTC City Ljubljana) a tentare il “colpaccio”, ma la reazione del gruppo è stata inesorabile. Ad 8 chilometri dal traguardo una caduta ha messo fuori dai giochi l’ex iridata Giorgia Bronzini (Cylance Pro Cycling), senza dubbio l’atleta più attesa e più tifata di oggi. Il successivo sprint finale ha premiato per il secondo giorno consecutivo la D’Hoore.

Nessun cambiamento nelle classifiche generali a tempo ed a punti, con Leah Kirchmann (Team Sunweb) e Kirsten Wild (Wiggle High5) sempre leader, l’azzurra Elisa Longo Borghini (Wiggle High5) ha vinto la maglia verde e quella blu, mentre la transalpina Juliette Labus (Team Sunweb) è la più forte tra le giovani. JOLIEN D’HOORE TRIUMPHS IN CORBETTA

The announced sprint of the Stage 3 of “Giro Rosa U.C.I. WWT”, Corbetta-Corbetta of 132 km has been won by the former Belgium champion Jolien D’Hoore (Mitchelton Scott) that has preceded the Dutch Kirsten Wild (Wiggle High5), winner yesterday, and the American Alexis Ryan, of Canyon Sram Racing. Giorgia Bronzini (Cylance Pro Cycling), for two times winner of World Championships, finished 5^th (best Italian) just the day before the stage in Piacenza, her hometown.

Today the stage was flat and completely drawn nearly Corbetta, with a lot of fans expecially close to the arrival and again with high temperatures. The main breakway of the day has been made by the “rouleur” from Abbiategrasso Chiara Perini (G.S. Top Girls Fassa Bortolo),that runs in her homeland, by Carmela Cipriani (Conceria Zabri Fanini) from Spoltore (Abruzzo) and by Swedish Sara Penton (Team Virtu Cycling). The action started at the end of the third lap and the maximum gap on the peloton has reached about 2’.The peloton closed the gap at about 5km to the arrival, with the sprinter teams Mitchelton Scott, Wiggle High5 and Team Sunweb that have worked a lot to do it. The final sprint started only in the last km for a crash that caused a delay of one minute for the winner of “Giro Rosa 2016” Megan Guarnier, and has been won by the Belgium Jolien D’Hoore.

The Canadian Leah Kirchmann (Team Sunweb), 4th at the end, jumped to the 1st position of “Giro Rosa U.C.I. WWT”, Kirsten Wild (Wiggle High5) wears also today the Cyclamine jersey, Sheyla Gutierrez Ruiz (Cylance Pro Cycling) still wear the Green jersey, the French Jouliette Labous (Team Sunweb) still wear the White jersey for the best young classificated, and the three times Italian champion Elena Cecchini (Canyon Sram Racing) resulted also today the best Italian classificated. A CORBETTA SPRINT VINCENTE DI JOLIEN D’HOORE

Volata doveva essere e volata è stata nella terza frazione del “Giro Rosa U.C.I. WWT”, la Corbetta-Corbetta di 132 chilometri. Il successo è stato conquistato dall’ex campionessa nazionale del Belgio Jolien D’Hoore (Mitchelton Scott), che sull’affollato vialone di arrivo si è lasciata alle spalle l’olandese Kirsten Wild (Wiggle High5), dominatrice della tappa di ieri, e l’americana del team Canyon Sram Racing Alexis Ryan. Miglior azzurra si è dimostrata la due volte iridata su strada Giorgia Bronzini (Cylance Pro Cycling), quinta, alla vigilia della frazione disegnata sulle strade della “sua” Piacenza.

La competizione, corsa sulle strade di un circuito cittadino completamente pianeggiante e caratterizzata ancora una volta dal grande caldo, è stata resa emozionante dalla lunga azione di un terzetto formato dalla passista di Abbiategrasso Chiara Perini (G.S. Top Girls Fassa Bortolo), che gareggiava sulle strade di casa, dall’abruzzese di Spoltore Carmela Cipriani (Conceria Zabri Fanini) e dalla svedese del Team Virtu Cycling Sara Penton. Le tre fuggitive di giornata, evase dal gruppo alla fine del terzo degli otto giri previsti, hanno accumulato un vantaggio massimo sul gruppo vicino ai due minuti e sono state raggiunte a circa cinque chilometri dalla conclusione grazie all’ottimo lavoro delle squadre delle velociste, tra cui Mitchelton Scott, Wiggle High5 e Team Sunweb. Lo sprint del gruppo, esploso nel finale di gara a causa di una caduta che ha coinvolto diverse atlete, attardando anche di un minuto la vincitrice del “Giro Rosa 2016” Megan Guarnier, non ha avuto storia ed ha premiato la possente velocista belga Jolien D’Hoore.

La canadese Leah Kirchmann (Team Sunweb), quarta al traguardo, è balzata al comando della classifica generale del “Giro Rosa U.C.I. WWT”, Kirsten Wild (Wiggle High5) ha conservato la maglia ciclamino, Sheyla Gutierrez Ruiz (Cylance Pro Cycling) è ancora la leader della graduatoria dei G.P.M., la transalpina Jouliette Labous (Team Sunweb) è ancora vestita con la maglia bianca di miglior giovane, mentre la tre volte tricolore su strada Elena Cecchini (Canyon Sram Racing) è sempre la più forte tra le italiane. Domani, lunedì 9 luglio, è in programma la quarta frazione: Piacenza-Piacenza di 109 chilometri, con un percorso che potrebbe favorire ancora una volta le ruote veloci del gruppo.
